Possessing a unique and impressive natural landscape, Mother Elephant Rock Mountain has become one of the check-in locations that attracts visitors when they have the opportunity to travel to Dak Lak.
This place is also known as Elephant Yang Tao Rock, referring to two rocky mountains located close to each other, including Mother Elephant Rock near the foot of a mountain range in Chu Yang Sin National Park and Father Elephant Rock located in the middle of a field, about 5km away. If traveling from Buon Ma Thuot, visitors will encounter Mother Elephant Rock first, then Father Elephant Rock.

To climb to the highest peak of Mother Elephant Rock Mountain, visitors take about 15 minutes of walking, moving through gentle slopes. From here, you can look far away, admire the beautiful natural scenery and observe some of the region's scenic spots such as Yang Reh Lake and Chu Yang Sin Range - the roof of the Central Highlands.
According to locals, no one knows when Mother Elephant Rock was created, but it has been found that this rock has been lying in the middle of Yang Tao valley for a long time.
There is a legend that Mother Elephant Rock was originally located in the North, facing Lak Lake. However, after just one night, people saw this rock standing tall in the middle of the valley, right next to the Chu Yang Sin range.
From the foot of the mountain, it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the top. The gently sloping rock slope is quite easy to climb, but the higher you climb, the steeper the slope becomes, so you need to be very careful because the cliff is covered with green moss and is quite slippery.
Many tourists who have had the opportunity to visit Mother Elephant Mountain said that the road to get here is quite easy, you can rent a motorbike and get there yourself.
“National Highway 27 is quite beautiful and safe. Traveling through this section of the road, visitors can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery with lush green trees growing along both sides, the air is also fresh and pleasant,” Yen Nhi, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City shared.
The young girl added that when the asphalt road ends, tourists travel about 200m more on dirt road and will see Mother Elephant Rock Mountain appear before their eyes, hidden among the vast fields and forests.
