The province recorded 2,272 cases of dengue fever, 3 deaths, of which 2,238 cases were dengue fever and dengue fever with warning signs.
On September 3, according to the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control, the province has just recorded another case of patient death due todengue feverin Krong Pak district.
This is the third death from this disease in the province since the beginning of 2023.
The patient is HNN, female, born in 2010, in Ea Phe commune, Krong Pak district. According to the patient's family, on August 29, the child had a continuous high fever.
On August 30, the family took the child to a private clinic and was diagnosed with dengue fever. The child was treated with intravenous fluids and fever-reducing medication.
On August 31, the family took the child to the Krong Pak District Medical Center with a diagnosis of shock; respiratory failure; severe dengue fever on the 4th day.
On September 1, the child was transferred to the Central Highlands General Hospital with a diagnosis of grade IV respiratory failure; severe dengue shock on the 4th.
On September 2, the child died at 2:00 a.m. with a diagnosis of severe dengue shock syndrome on the 5th; severe multiple organ failure, irreversible multiple organ damage.
According to Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc, Deputy Director in charge of the Provincial Center for Disease Control, the number of dengue fever cases recorded in the province has increased dramatically, especially in July and August. Through investigation, the disease vector index in key areas has increased. It is forecasted that in the coming time, especially during the rainy season and the school year, dengue fever may increase if there are no timely prevention and control measures and solutions.
The Health Department recommends that people with suspicious symptoms should immediately go to the nearest medical facility for timely examination and treatment. People should absolutely not arbitrarily buy medicine and treat themselves at home to avoid unfortunate incidents.
