Stand side by side with workers and laborers

Timely support

The most difficult thing during the past term was that workers were severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. After the pandemic, many businesses closed, went bankrupt, workers lost their jobs, and had low incomes. Faced with this situation, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Hai Duong trade unions at all levels have taken many practical activities to promptly support workers. The provincial Labor Federation has supported 854 union members in especially difficult circumstances who lost their jobs due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic; provided emergency support to 8,915 union members and workers affected by the pandemic with a total amount of more than 6.8 billion VND.

Ms. Bui Thi Duyen, a worker at Kim Son Development and Trading Services Company Limited (Chi Linh) recalls the days of struggling with the epidemic. Her husband passed away 7 years ago, she raised 4 children alone, life was difficult. With advice from the grassroots union, she received some financial support to overcome the difficult times of the epidemic. On holidays and Tet, she and her children received gifts from the union at all levels. "Although the gifts were not big, they gave me more motivation, helped me overcome difficulties and move forward in life," Ms. Duyen said.

During the complicated times of the Covid-19 pandemic, each union official is an excellent propagandist to help workers overcome difficulties. They are the ones wearing protective gear, directly handing workers the necessary necessities to prevent the epidemic. In addition, during the 2017-2023 term, unions at all levels gave more than 300,000 gifts with more than 6,700 bus tickets worth more than 77 billion VND to workers and laborers in difficult circumstances who live far away to return home for Tet. Grassroots unions and enterprises have allocated more than 30 billion VND to take care of workers on holidays and Tet.

During the term, trade unions at all levels coordinated with businesses to support workers in difficulty in building 43 houses and repairing 44 houses with a total amount of more than 2 billion VND. With the motto "For the benefit of union members", "Caring for jobs and lives of workers", trade unions at all levels signed cooperation agreements with 79 partners, helping about 60,000 workers and laborers reduce medical examination costs and use preferential services by 10-35%.

Demonstrate accountability

In the 2023-2028 term, Hai Duong provincial trade unions at all levels will continue to improve the effectiveness of their tasks of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. Specifically, grassroots trade unions in production and business areas protect workers, conduct dialogue, negotiate, and sign collective labor agreements. Grassroots trade unions in administrative agencies and public service units coordinate to effectively implement grassroots democracy regulations, maintain harmony in the interests of union members in accordance with legal regulations and the actual conditions of the unit.

The grassroots trade union directly above the grassroots directs, guides and supports the grassroots trade union in performing its duties of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers, and at the same time providing legal support and participating in resolving labor cases in court (when authorized). At the same time, the grassroots trade union leaders organize strikes in accordance with the law. The Provincial Federation of Labor organizes the reception, reflection of the thoughts, aspirations and recommendations of union members and workers; proposes, recommends and participates with the Party Committee and the government to resolve issues related to union members and workers. Thereby, it aims to care for and ensure the lives, jobs and benefits, and create trust for workers. Promote the implementation of welfare programs for union members and actively coordinate with the government, mobilize all resources to flexibly deploy many forms and practical solutions to improve the lives of union members.

According to comrade Ngo Thi Thanh Hoa, Chairwoman of the Provincial Federation of Labor, in the new term, Hai Duong Trade Union will continue to advise the Party Committee and the government to pay attention to investing resources to build material facilities and cultural institutions to practically serve cultural, artistic and sports activities to improve the spiritual life of union members and workers in industrial parks and clusters. Trade unions at all levels will promote the building of trade union organizations in enterprises, especially non-state enterprises, to stand side by side with workers to overcome all difficulties.
