Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were both left out of the 2024 team of the year voted by the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro).
Messi missed out on the FIFPro Team of the Year for the first time since 2006, but still holds the record for 17 consecutive FIFPro honors. Ronaldo made the team 16 times in a row before missing out for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024.
Real dominated FIFPro's best team of the year with four members: defender Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, midfielder Jude Bellingham and striker Vinicius.
Kylian Mbappe, who joined Real from PSG in the summer of 2024, and Toni Kroos, a former Real player who retired after Euro 2024, are also present.
Man City ranked behind with four names: goalkeeper Ederson, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and striker Erling Haaland and current Ballon d'Or winner Rodri.
The remaining name in FIFPro's best squad of the year is Liverpool centre-back Virgil Van Dijk.
With Messi and Ronaldo both absent, Mbappe and De Bruyne lead this year's nominees in terms of appearances in the FIFPro Team of the Year with five nods each.
Following behind are Van Dijk and Haaland with four appearances each. Meanwhile, Ederson, Dani Carvajal, Rudiger and Rodri are in the team for the first time.
