More than half of young men undergoing military health check-ups in Kim Thanh have refractive eye defects.

On December 2, the Kim Thanh District Military Service Council organized a military service examination in 2025 for young men of military service age.

This year, Kim Thanh district issued a medical examination order for nearly 700 young people who met the health requirements after the preliminary examination in communes and towns. On the first day, over 90% of the young people from Kim Tan and Ngu Phuc communes came for the examination.

According to the Military Service Council of Kim Thanh district in 2025, the work of selecting and calling young people to join the army in the locality is facing many difficulties, the number of young people of military service age who are temporarily deferred is high, especially among nearly 700 young people eligible for district-level examination, more than 50% of young people have refractive eye defects (myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia), an increase of about 10% compared to 2024; in some localities, the rate of young people with refractive eye defects is up to 60 - 70%. Kim Thanh is one of the localities with a high rate of young people with refractive eye defects undergoing military service health examination in the province.

In order to achieve high results in the military service examination and recruitment, Kim Thanh district directed units and localities to proactively review and grasp the source of citizens of military service age; focus on organizing experience sharing and professional training for staff directly involved in military recruitment; closely coordinate the implementation of the stages and steps of preliminary selection and medical examination.

According to the plan, from December 3 to 10, Kim Thanh district will organize medical examinations for the remaining communes and towns, and on December 11, it will conduct medical examinations for those who are absent.
