The film Hoa Ban Do (directed by Bach Diep, scripted by Huu Mai) was produced by the Army Film Studio and released in 1994 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
To this day, this remains a rare feature film that has been successful in addressing this historical event.
With the view that war does not have to be about guns and bullets, director Bach Diep and author Huu Mai have sent a film about wartime but completely different at that time.
However, the film still haunts the audience with its profound look at human fate in a war without gunfire.
Hoa ban do stars Tran Luc (as battalion commander Phuong), Thu Ha (nurse Tam), Hoang Hai, Manh Truong, Ha Trang, Trung Anh, Diem Huong, Trung Hieu, Trong Trinh...
The film recreates the last days of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, when the commander of the capture of base 206, the character Phuong was injured and met Tam at the military hospital.
Tam fell in love with Phuong. After her wound healed, Phuong returned to her unit to continue the war.
The two people's farewell took place in a blooming forest of Bauhinia flowers. This is considered the most beautiful and romantic scene in the film.
In the final scene of the film, Tam runs in the middle of Muong Thanh field without seeing Phuong, all around her is the sound of soldiers singing to celebrate the victory.
