Concluding the question-and-answer session on the morning of June 8, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue commented that Minister Le Minh Hoan's answers showed that the Minister clearly understood the situation and reality of issues under the Ministry's management.

In general, the Minister answered fully and comprehensively the issues raised by the National Assembly deputies and ensured the content and time regulations, while suggesting many major directions and proposing some specific solutions for this field.

Suggests many major directions

Emphasizing that agriculture, farmers, and rural areas are always a strategic issue, a foundation and a particularly important force for sustainable socio-economic development, maintaining political stability, ensuring national defense, security, and social order and safety, according to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, our Party and State always attach importance to and prioritize investment resources for agriculture, farmers, and rural areas.

In recent years, with the outstanding efforts of the agricultural sector, the community of business associations, cooperatives and farmers nationwide, the agricultural sector has developed in both scale and production level, maintained a relatively high growth rate, supported the economy, and firmly ensured national food security, even in the most difficult period due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic...

However, according to the National Assembly Chairman, our country's agriculture is still fragmented, small-scale and spontaneous, development is still unsustainable, crop and livestock productivity is quite high but labor productivity is low, income and people's lives are not high, sometimes and in some places it is very difficult, requiring more efforts, more determination to realize the policy of continuing to restructure the agricultural sector, developing the rural economy associated with building new rural areas in the direction of ecological agriculture, modern rural areas and civilized farmers in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed that the question-and-answer session attracted the attention of the people and voters nationwide, and the deep interest of National Assembly deputies; basically following the content of the topic, focusing on the key points with a spirit of frankness, objectivity, construction and high responsibility. National Assembly deputies raised questions briefly, concisely, going straight to the core issues, which were both fundamental, long-term strategic, topical and urgent, and of great concern to the people and voters, especially farmers.

“In general, the Minister has fully and comprehensively answered the issues raised by National Assembly deputies and ensured the time regulations, while suggesting many major directions and proposing some specific solutions for this field in the coming time,” the National Assembly Chairman stated.

Continue to promote restructuring of the agricultural sector

The National Assembly Chairman also said that Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh and the Ministers of Natural Resources and Environment, Planning and Investment had received and further explained the opinions of the National Assembly deputies. Through the Minister's report to the National Assembly deputies and the developments of the questioning session, the current situation and main directions and solutions were clarified.

Accordingly, continue to promote restructuring of the agricultural sector, develop rural economy, sustainable and highly effective ecological agriculture associated with new rural construction, taking farmers as the subject and center to build action programs with strategies, plans, projects and specific solutions to effectively implement the goals, targets, tasks and solutions stated in the Resolution of the 5th Central Conference, Session XIII on agriculture, farmers and rural areas by 2030, with a vision to 2045; as well as conclusions and resolutions on thematic supervision work of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee on agriculture and rural development, firmly ensuring national food security, linking food security with water security, protecting and enriching land, protecting the ecological environment, adapting to climate change and sustainable development. Developing high-quality human resources to serve agricultural production and business, processing and preserving agricultural products, meeting the needs of restructuring the agricultural sector and building new rural areas. Striving to soon make Vietnam one of the leading agricultural countries in the modern, efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural processing industry.

"Organize production, link markets according to the agricultural product value chain, between farmers and farmers; between agriculture and enterprises. Strengthen the reorganization of the agricultural product distribution system, increase the application of digital technology and e-commerce. Improve forecasting capacity, identify market demand, promote the development of commodity production areas according to key product groups at the national and provincial levels and OCOP product groups. By 2025, strive to have at least 10,000 OCOP products recognized as achieving 3 stars or more", emphasized National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

The National Assembly Chairman also mentioned solutions such as developing and implementing a project to gradually shift from informal to formal exports. Implementing breakthrough solutions to increase the economic value of agriculture, promoting the construction of agricultural logistics centers, cold storage systems, linking with agricultural export areas, linking with raw material areas, improving the capacity of processing and preserving agricultural products. Developing and implementing projects to promote agricultural exports to key markets such as China, the US, the European Union, Japan, etc.

Continue to closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to assess the domestic and international situation, domestic demand, regulate import and export, agricultural input materials, increase transparency in prices and quality of fertilizers, pesticides and animal feed. Overcome the shortage of seeds, lack of initiative in seeds and agricultural materials; increase the use of organic fertilizers and biological pesticides, especially in the Mekong Delta. Increase the use of domestic agricultural products, processed by-products to produce animal feed, aquatic products, organic fertilizers to reduce partial dependence on imported sources...
