Trucks over 10 tons and passenger vans over 40 seats will be temporarily suspended from some national highways during the State Funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on July 25-26.
On the evening of July 23, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) announced that from 6-22:00 on July 25 and 12-17:00 on July 26, trucks with a load capacity of over 10 tons and passenger cars with over 40 seats will be temporarily banned on some national highways, except for vehicles serving the National Funeral, vehicles with badges,duty vehicles, fixed route passenger transport vehicles, sanitation vehicles and incident response vehicles.
Specifically, the two types of vehicles are banned on the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway from the Liem Tuyen intersection to Phap Van; National Highway 1 from Yen Lenh Bridge to Ngoc Hoi and from the intersection of National Highway 5 to National Highway 18; National Highway 5 from the intersection of National Highway 1 to the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Van Cu intersection; National Highway 3 from the Bac Phu intersection to the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway intersection.
Trucks weighing over 10 tons and passenger vans with over 40 seats are prohibited from traveling on National Highway 2 from the Vo Van Kiet intersection to the Hanoi - Lao Cai Expressway; National Highway 6 from the Xuan Mai intersection (Chuong My) to the Quang Trung intersection (Ha Dong); the Vietnam Ethnic Culture Village road from the intersection with the Hoa Binh connecting road to the Thang Long Avenue intersection with National Highway 21A; National Highway 32 from the Son Tay intersection to Ho Tung Mau Street.
Vehicles from Hai Phong, Hai Duong to Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh will follow National Highway 5 or Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway to Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway, cross Thanh Tri Bridge to Phap Van Intersection to Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway, or go to Hung Yen to Yen Lenh Bridge, or Hung Ha Bridge to Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway and vice versa.
Vehicles from Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hung Yen to Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces follow National Highway 5 or Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway to National Highway 1 via Phu Dong Bridge, to Ninh Hiep intersection to go to Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway or National Highway 1 and vice versa.
Vehicles from Bac Ninh, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong to Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc will follow National Highway 1 to National Highway 18 - Vo Nguyen Giap - Vo Van Kiet - National Highway 2, or from National Highway 1 to Ninh Hiep intersection to Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway or turn onto the national highway and vice versa.
Vehicles from Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho to Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh and Hoa Binh via Dong Quang and Vinh Thinh bridges - National Highway 32 - National Highway 21 - Vietnam Ethnic Culture Village road - Hanoi - Hoa Binh expressway - National Highway 21A - Provincial Road 424 - National Highway 21B - National Highway 1A and vice versa.
The Traffic Police Department has come up with nine alternative traffic diversion plans in case of prolonged and serious congestion.
