Coach Mai Duc Chung was honored to receive the title of Hero of Labor for his great contributions to Vietnamese football.

Decision No. 149/QD-CTN signed by the President on January 24, 2025 clearly states: "Awarding the title of Hero of Labor to Mr. Mai Duc Chung, head coach of the Vietnam national women's football team, Vietnam Football Federation, for his exceptionally outstanding achievements in creative labor, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland".

Mr. Mai Duc Chung is a veteran coach with achievements with the Vietnamese women's team with 8 gold medals at the SEA Games (1997, 2003, 2005, 2017, 2019, 2021-2022, 2023), winning the AFF Cup 2019, fourth place at the 2014 ASIAD, fifth place at the 2022 Asian Cup and winning a ticket to the 2023 World Cup.

Previously, coach Mai Duc Chung was also successful with men's football, when he led the Vietnamese team (temporarily) through a difficult period and with Binh Duong Club reached the semi-finals of the AFC Cup 2009.

Speaking after receiving the title of Hero of Labor, Mr. Mai Duc Chung said: “This is the most noble and honorable award in my life. This title is an honor for myself and my whole family...”.

This year, Mr. Mai Duc Chung and the Vietnamese women's team will compete in the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Southeast Asian Championship and the 2025 SEA Games.

Mr. Mai Duc Chung's contract with VFF lasts until the end of 2025. It is expected that after the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, Mr. Chung "xe ca" will say goodbye to the Vietnamese women's team to rest with his family.
