Bac Hung Hai River water often has parameters that exceed the permitted environmental standards many times.

Of which, domestic wastewater from urban areas and concentrated residential areas accounts for 80%, wastewater from industrial parks accounts for more than 9%, the rest is wastewater from facilities outside the zones, industrial clusters, medical wastewater, etc.

In recent years, the results of environmental monitoring and analysis at 22 locations on the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system (belonging to 124 km of main canal) and 26 locations on the intra-field branch canal system showed that the quality of river water at regular sampling locations had some parameters exceeding the permissible environmental standards. Specifically, the most recent analysis results in the second quarter of 2023 on the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system at some monitoring locations had parameters of NH4 + -N (exceeding the standard by 13.9 times), NO2 - -N (exceeding by 12.7 times), E.Coli (exceeding by 21 times). In addition, the sampling locations on branch canals that receive wastewater from residential areas, craft villages, etc. before flowing into the Bac Hung Hai river system also had many parameters exceeding the permissible environmental standards.
