On the morning of April 1, the inspection results of the Hai Duong Irrigation Department showed that the water of Bac Hung Hai River at some points in the downstream area of this system was less polluted than a few days ago.
On April 1, leaders of the Hai Duong Irrigation Department and Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited inspected the water of Dinh Dao River in several areas in the province. At 10:00 a.m., the water of Dinh Dao River at the Bia Bridge area in Dai Hop Commune (Tu Ky) was black, had a foul odor, and dead fish were scattered about. However, by 2:00 p.m. the same day, the pollution had decreased, the water gradually turned murky green, and the fishy smell was less.
Similarly, the water of Dinh Dao River through Van Bridge (Tu Ky Town) and Don Ferry (Quang Phuc Commune, Tu Ky District) has also decreased to a pitch black color. The water of Long Khe-An Tho and Long Khe-Cau Xe Rivers at An Tho and Cau Xe sluices has decreased in pollution as observed with the naked eye.
Also on the morning of April 1, checking the water of the Cuu An River at the Ram bridge area, Nghia An commune (Ninh Giang) and the Cu Loc intersection area, Minh Duc commune (Tu Ky) showed no signs of pollution.
Mr. Trinh The Truong, Chairman of Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited, said that since March 24, the company has officially operated the Xuan Quan field pumping station (Hung Yen) with a capacity of 16m3/s, pumping water from the Red River to dilute and reduce water pollution in the Bac Hung Hai system. In just 1-2 days, the pollution situation in the downstream area of this system will be improved, and water quality will be guaranteed to serve agricultural production.
Previously, since the beginning of March, the water in Kim Son canal (belonging to Bac Hung Hai system) has been black, with a strong stench extending from the downstream of Bao Dap culvert (Gia Lam, Hanoi) to the Sat bridge area (Ke Sat town, Binh Giang). Binh Lau pumping station (Hai Duong city) is still pumping polluted water from T2 canal into Kim Son canal.
Since February 29, after the end of the second discharge from upstream lakes to serve the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop production, the additional water source for the Bac Hung Hai system from the Red River through Xuan Quan sluice has decreased. The system has also not taken water upstream through Cau Xe and An Tho sluices for many days due to the salinity of the river water outside. Due to the lack of additional water, the Bac Hung Hai water source in some places has become more seriously polluted because it has to receive about 500,000 m3 every day.3Wastewater. Pollution appears in sections along the flow, some sections are so thick that it takes many days to dilute.
The phenomenon of serious pollution of Bac Hung Hai river water has been reported by Hai Duong newspaper and readers have sent a lot of information and comments to the newspaper in recent days.
