Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in New York and will chair a meeting during Russia's rotating presidency of the Security Council.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced on the evening of April 23 that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had arrived in New York.
Posting on Telegram, Ms. Zakharova stated: "(Foreign Minister) Sergei Lavrov has arrived in New York. Tomorrow, a meeting of the UN Security Council will be held under his chairmanship."
Foreign Minister Lavrov is expected to chair two meetings of the United Nations Security Council on April 24-25.
On April 24, he is also scheduled to meet with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Previously, on March 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will chair a high-level open discussion of the United Nations Security Council on multilateralism.
TASS news agency quoted Ms. Zakharova as saying that Foreign Minister Lavrov will chair a high-level open discussion on the topic "Effective multilateralism through protecting the principles of the UN Charter."
She stressed that this is an important event during Russia's rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council next April.
