Russia, Ukraine warn of missile and drone threat

According to TASS news agency, since the morning of August 28, Russian authorities have continuously issued warnings about missile threats in Kursk province (bordering Ukraine).

In a Telegram post, acting Kursk Governor Alexey Smirnov said that on the morning of August 28, authorities had issued four warnings about the missile threat and that Russian air defense systems had shot down one missile in Kursk. Meanwhile, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that a missile alert had also been issued throughout the province.

According to Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev, also on the morning of August 28, authorities temporarily evacuated people in two areas after a drone crashed near dangerous explosive objects. The situation has now stabilized and people are returning home.

Earlier, Mr. Gusev said that air defense forces and electronic warfare equipment on duty in the Rossoshansky area (Voronezh) detected and shot down one drone. Falling drone fragments caused a fire near the explosive objects, but there were no casualties or damage. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said that on the night of August 27, the country's air defense system intercepted 12 drones in Voronezh and Rostov.

Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev said a fire broke out at a fuel depot in Kamensky in the region during a drone attack. There were no casualties in the attack. Kazan airport officials said flights from Moscow and Sochi to Kazan airport were diverted to the airport in Samara.

On the same day, Ukraine issued an airstrike warning in five regions of the country. Accordingly, sirens were sounded in the regions of Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkov and Chernihiv.
