On April 25, the US announced new sanctions against individuals and entities that Washington said were involved in supporting and financially backing the sale of drones to the Iranian military.
According to the announcement on the official website of the US Treasury Department, the above entities and individuals are involved in the secret sale of drones to the Iranian Ministry of Defense and the Logistics Department of the Armed Forces of this country. The new sanctions list includes 15 entities, 8 individuals and 5 vessels. Iran's Pouya Air and Tehran-based Sahara Thunder are on the list.
Earlier, on April 18, the US Treasury Department announced sanctions against 16 individuals and two entities related to Iran's drone program. On April 17, European Union (EU) leaders also agreed to strengthen sanctions against Iran.
The US and European countries took the above measures after Iran launched many missiles and drones towards Israel on the night of April 13, in response to the airstrike targeting the consulate building of the Iranian Embassy in Syria, which Tehran said was carried out by Israel.
