Due to the impact of the pandemic, which has limited the production of music products by many artists, independent artists and emerging names have seized the opportunity to affirm their position in the music market on YouTube. Specifically, the list of Top 10 most prominent music videos (MVs) on YouTube in 2021 includes Son Tung M-TP with “Muon roi ma sao con,” Den with “Tron tan” and Jack with “Laylalay.”

In addition to the first three rankings, the remaining seven positions belong to new names such as Doan Hieu, Hua Kim Tuyen, DatKaa, Dinh Dung... with musical works that have caused a fever in the past year and are extremely loved by young people such as "Who are they loving?", "Sai Gon is so heartbroken," "Ha con lang nang."

What these songs have in common is a youthful, catchy melody, or are associated with dance moves that have spread into trends on different platforms.

In recent years, in addition to traditional music products, more and more artists and audiences have favored the genre of live performance videos. These performances usually consist of only singers and orchestras, without an audience, performing their own hit songs or covering other people's songs, almost a more professional version of the traditional cover genre.

These videos attract viewers with their original musical experience, fresh compared to the original, but rustic and highlighting the artist's voice more than the recordings. Typically, the video series "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring" produced by Forest Studio with the participation of many famous singers has become a trend on YouTube and is loved by the audience. The video "Ngay chua gio bao x Always remember us this way" won the top spot on the chart of 10 Outstanding Videos of 2021.

In the context of many daily social activities such as traveling, eating, and socializing being limited, YouTube creators' content production has also been affected, especially in the areas of travel, food, and entertainment content. The champion is Gay Media, a YouTube channel specializing in producing parody music videos, romantic and humorous short films, and other entertainment content.

The Female Detective YouTube channel was featured in both the list of most prominent YouTube creators and the list of YouTube breakthrough creators of 2021, marking the rise of the detective content genre in recent times. Videos in this genre are characterized by exploiting common situations in daily life, with educational nature, raising awareness against criminal tricks or scams.

In addition to the three traditional categories of Top Video, Top Music Video (MV) and Top Creator, this year's list adds two new categories: Top Breakthrough Creator and Top YouTube Shorts Creator.

Launched in July 2021, YouTube Shorts is a way for creators to connect with new audiences using just a smartphone and the Shorts camera in the YouTube app. More than just a new creative tool that helps creators create different content formats that appeal to their audiences, YouTube Shorts also gives audiences more options and a richer source of content on the YouTube platform.
