Kia and Toyota's B-size crossovers have overwhelming sales compared to the remaining competitors, but the upcoming race promises to be more competitive with the addition of Mazda's CX-3 and CX-30 duo.
The popularity of Kia Seltos has shown no signs of cooling down since its launch, continuously leading the segment despite the increasing competition. Sales of this model in March reached 1,318 units, ranking 6th out of the 10 best-selling cars of the month. This is also the average sales of Kia Seltos since the beginning of the year.
Kia Seltos continues to be the best-selling urban SUV in the segment
"Race two horses" with Kia's model in this segment is the Corolla Cross. Toyota delivered 940 crossovers to customers last month. The Corolla Cross's results could have been even better if there were enough cars to deliver to customers. Some users said that dealers had to wait a month for cars and some places still sold at higher prices or customers had to buy additional accessories worth about 20 million VND.
About 30% of the urban SUV segment market share is divided among other models. Although Hyundai Kona improved its sales in April with 442 units, it was still far behind Kia and Toyota. Ford EcoSport sold 129 units and Honda HR-V 107 units in April.
The newly launched Mazda CX-3 and CX-30 duo promises to make the race more exciting.
Names like Peugeot 2008 and MG ZS have not been announced by the company. Surveys at some dealers, sales staff of these two car companies said that the number of interested customers is gradually increasing and also "closing" a certain number of orders.
The race in the urban SUV segment in Vietnam promises to be hotter in the coming time when Mazda launches the CX-3 and CX-30 duo. These two products help Mazda fill its crossover segment. In terms of distribution, Thaco has up to 4 models in this market segment, including the new Mazda CX duo, Kia Seltos and Peugeot 2008.
