In 2023, the whole country mobilized and received 1,555,593 units of blood, exceeding the set plan.
Of which, 99% of blood units are from voluntary blood donors, equivalent to over 1.5% of the blood donation population; the rate of repeat blood donations is over 60%; the rate of blood units with a volume of 350ml or more is 61%.
These are the figures given at the National Conference summarizing the Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign in 2023 organized by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign on the morning of January 12, in Hanoi.
Minister of Health, Head of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, Dao Hong Lan, said that in 2023, many large-scale blood donation campaigns were organized effectively and practically, attracting millions of participants, bringing positive emotions to society and spreading throughout the community.
Nationwide, over 1.5 million units of blood have been mobilized and received, basically meeting the blood needs for emergency care and treatment of patients nationwide.
Many activities have been and are being organized, continuing to promote positive effects, creating a spreading influence in the voluntary blood donation movement.
Up to now, the whole country has established 4,530 clubs with 153,170 members. In addition, the work of building reserve blood donation forces in remote, border and island areas has also been focused on and effectively implemented.
In particular, the work of propaganda and mobilization of voluntary blood donation has been widely promoted through the application of information technology in activities, management, and care of voluntary blood donors, which continues to expand.
The subjects participating in voluntary blood donation are cadres, civil servants, public employees, armed forces and workers, monks, nuns, Buddhists, religious dignitaries, creating a spread in the community, helping to raise people's awareness and concept of voluntary blood donation.
The Steering Committees at all levels have organized 5,598 propaganda and mobilization sessions on voluntary blood donation with over 1.4 million participants. 13,510 Red Cross officials, members and volunteers have been trained in mobilization and mobilization of resources for humanitarian blood donation.
At the Conference, the Chairmen of the local Red Cross Associations shared ways to promote, mobilize, and organize activities to attract more people to donate blood locally.
The National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation presented certificates of merit to 45 groups with outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement in 2023.
The conference also held the signing ceremony of the Coordination Program between the Ministry of Health, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Vietnam Association for Promoting Human Tissue and Organ Donation in the work of promoting and mobilizing human tissue and organ donation for the period 2024-2027.
This activity will strengthen the movement of registering for organ and tissue donation and the source of organ and tissue donation, thereby contributing to creating a beautiful cultural flow of dedication in every Vietnamese person.
