Weather forecast for regions across the country in the next 24 to 48 hours, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said, the North and North Central regions will have rain in some places, early morning fog and scattered light fog, sunny in the afternoon.

Forecast from December 17, the North will turn cold
From the night of December 11 to December 13, the North will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with moderate to heavy rain in some mountainous areas. The morning and night will be cold. From December 16 to 17, this area will have scattered rain. From December 17, the North will likely experience cold weather.
The North Central region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms from December 17. This is also the time when the North Central region is forecast to turn cold.
Sharing more about this cold spell, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, an expert in natural disaster and extreme weather warning, said that from the night of December 16, cold air will approach the northern mountainous region, then reach other places in the North. On the morning of December 17, the North will be cold.
"This is one of the strong cold air waves, the temperature in the mountains in the Northern mountainous region can drop to 5-6 degrees Celsius in some places, the city area in the Northern mountainous region can drop to 10-12 degrees Celsius, the temperature in Hanoi is forecast to drop to 16-18 degrees Celsius, the provinces in the North Central region 18-20 degrees Celsius. This cold air wave will also move down deep and affect the South Central provinces with temperatures down to 18-22 degrees Celsius. This is the minimum temperature at night",Dr. Huy said.
This cold spell is also accompanied by moderate rain in the areas during the first days of the cold air passing through. In particular, the northern mountainous region had rain on the night of December 16 and December 17, then the rain gradually spread to the central provinces but the rainfall was moderate.
According to Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, this cold spell may last from the night of December 16 to around December 25. After that, the weather in the North may show signs of warming up, but the warm period will only last about a week. In early January 2024, the North may welcome another cold spell.
