Under the leadership of Lionel Messi, Inter Miami won the Supporters' Shield and achieved the best result in the club's history.
On December 6 (US time), Lionel Messi was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in Major League Soccer after helping Inter Miami set a record in the regular season.
The Argentine star received the award after his performances helped Miami reach a record points tally in the 2024 season, earning the club its first Supporters' Shield.
The 37-year-old finished the 2024 season with 36 goal involvements (the most in the league), including 20 goals and 16 assists, although injuries limited him to just 19 appearances this year.
This achievement helped Messi surpass strong candidates such as Cucho Hernandez or Christian Benteke to win the vote conducted by players, coaching staff and the media. Messi received 38.43% of the votes compared to the second place Benteke (33.70%).
Messi became the 10th South American to win the MVP and the fifth Argentine to win the award after Luciano Acosta, Diego Valeri, Guillermo Barros Schelotto and Christian Gomez.
Under Messi's leadership, Inter Miami won the Supporters' Shield and achieved the best result in the club's history.
The MLS MVP award is just one of the many awards Messi has received during his illustrious career.
With 8 Golden Balls and countless titles in La Liga, Champions League and Copa America, Messi continues to prove his legendary stature.
Since joining Inter Miami, he has not only transformed the team but also elevated MLS, turning the tournament into the center of world football attention.
