Solemnly celebrate the 1,055th anniversary of Dai Co Viet State and open the Hoa Lu Festival in 2023

On the evening of April 28, at the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Special National Relic Site, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Binh province solemnly celebrated the 1,055th anniversary of Dai Co Viet State (968-2023) and opened the Hoa Lu Festival 2023.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, comrade Pham Quang Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, delivered a commemorative speech affirming that Ninh Binh province is proud to be an ancient land, where people have lived since prehistoric times, 30 thousand years ago. Through the newly discovered archaeological cultural layers in recent years, many important scientific evidences have been provided, contributing to clarifying the historical, cultural values ​​and appearance of Ninh Binh in the first 10 centuries AD, revealing evidence of a capital with unique architecture. Before the formation of Hoa Lu capital, this place used to be a cultural, political and economic center with a major role and function as a headquarters.

In the 10th century, Hoa Lu was chosen as the capital of Dai Co Viet State after Dinh Bo Linh rose up, unified the country, declared himself emperor, and established the first centralized feudal state in the history of the nation; where King Le Dai Hanh initiated historic decisions against the Song invaders, maintained national independence, expanded the territory, strengthened national power, built a prosperous nation, and created the premise for the brilliant development of feudal state institutions in the following periods.

Over 86 years, with eight kings of three dynasties: Dinh, Tien Le, Ly, Dai Co Viet State has made great contributions, holding an important position and role in the historical process of the nation, strongly affirming independence, autonomy, self-reliance, national pride, creating a solid foundation for later feudal dynasties to inherit and develop.

More than a thousand years have passed, but the echoes of the ancient capital Hoa Lu still reverberate today. The vestiges of the citadel walls, the palace foundations, and artifacts excavated from underground archaeological layers show the stature and unique architecture of the ancient capital. The spirit of the capital, the merits of building and defending the country, and caring for the people of wise kings are still imprinted throughout history, in the minds of the people with deep gratitude.

The Hoa Lu Festival, which opens annually, is a long-standing cultural activity that vividly reflects the life, background, and career of Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang and the history of Vietnam through three dynasties: Dinh, Tien Le, and Ly. The Hoa Lu Festival was once held by the feudal monarchies of Vietnam as a solemn ceremony, with great influence, preserving unique cultural and folk art elements.

Over time, the festival has become a cultural and spiritual activity of the people of the ancient capital in particular and the people of the whole country in general, to honor good cultural values, express respect and deep gratitude to the ancestors, making the value of Dai Co Viet State always live forever with time and history.

With such typical and lasting values, Hoa Lu Festival has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, together with Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, creating the special value of Trang An scenic complex, recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Inheriting and promoting the tradition of our ancestors, the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Binh province, with their will and aspiration to rise up, have united, been proactive, creative, promoted potential and advantages, overcome difficulties and challenges, and achieved important and comprehensive achievements in all fields.

The work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system has been implemented synchronously and comprehensively. The economy has continuously grown well; the economic structure has shifted in a positive direction. The total budget revenue in the area in 2022 reached over 24,300 billion VND, ranking 15th out of 63 provinces and cities; the province has balanced its budget and has regulated the central budget since 2022. In particular, Ninh Binh tourism has become a bright spot on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world, in the group of 15 leading destinations in the world; group of 10 provinces with the highest number of visitors in the country, creating a driving force to promote the development of many other industries and fields, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province.
