"For each sao of vegetable growing, farmers earn a profit of 4 - 5 million VND. Many households have escaped poverty and have a stable life thanks to growing vegetables," Ms. Nhiem added.In recent years, many farmers in Lua village have also grown melons and cucumbers in greenhouses to improve productivity, quality and selling price. Doan Thuong commune has 13 households with greenhouse areas, of which Lua village alone has 12 households.Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung's family in team 1 has more than 6,200 m2.greenhouse for growing cucumbers and melons. "The productivity and yield of cultivation in greenhouses are higher than traditional methods. My family grows cucumbers in a greenhouse of nearly 2,000 m2but yielded 17 tons of fruit. The selling price of cucumbers grown in greenhouses is higher than that of those grown outside, on average from 10,000 - 20,000 VND/kg.
