More than 1.4 tons of smuggled, spoiled red apples were promptly stopped by Hai Duong authorities before being brought to market.
On the afternoon of January 24, the Market Management Department of Hai Duong province supervised the destruction of 1,430 kg of dried red apples, which were smuggled goods. The destruction was carried out at An Phat Green Environment Joint Stock Company (Hai Duong City).
Previously, on January 6, the inspection team of Market Management Team No. 1 (Market Management Department of Hai Duong province) coordinated with Team 3, Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy, Smuggling and Environment (Provincial Police) to inspect the business location of Mr. Ngo Manh Cuong's household at lot NV 08.42, Tue Tinh urban area, Cam Thuong ward (Hai Duong city).
At the inspection site, the above apples were discovered. All of these apples showed signs of mold, dirt, and did not ensure quality and food hygiene and safety. The total value of the confiscated items was more than 78.6 million VND.
In addition, the business household owned by Mr. Cuong has its headquarters at 3/24/37 Han Thuong, Cam Thuong Ward (Hai Duong City). Since its establishment (November 2024), this business household has not conducted any business activities at the above location. All business activities are conducted at Lot NV 08.42, Tue Tinh Urban Area, Cam Thuong Ward. However, the business household did not complete the procedures to register changes to the contents of the business household registration certificate as prescribed.
For the violation of not registering changes to the contents of the business registration certificate with the district-level business registration agency within 10 days from the date of change and trading in smuggled goods and trading in spoiled, moldy, and dirty food, Ngo Manh Cuong business household was administratively fined nearly 78.3 million VND and was forced to destroy all violating goods.
