Faced with the ever-increasing threat of cyber-fraud, banks are constantly updating and issuing new warnings.

BIDV Bank has just updated a new warning about the phenomenon of subjects impersonating officials of State and Government agencies (especially police and tax agencies) calling to notify customers that they need to declare/update information on applications of State agencies (such as VNeID, VSSID, eTax,...), instructing customers to download fake applications to appropriate assets.

After the fake application is installed on the phone, the subjects will create a number of situations for users to perform transactions such as changing passwords, transferring public fees...

When customers do this, these fake applications will monitor and read the information that customers enter into all applications on their phones as well as the operations that customers perform on their devices (including the risk of stealing information on smartbanking), thereby taking control of the mobile device as well as the customer's account.

The phenomenon is mainly recorded with customers using the Android operating system.

Only install official applications on Appstore and CH Play, do not install through strange websites/links, absolutely do not provide/disclose information (password, authentication code...) to anyone to avoid being exploited.

Absolutely do not store on mobile devices: photos of ID card, CCCD, personal passport, bank account number, banking application access password.

Always update your banking app to the latest version.

Mastering the working regulations of State and Government agencies is only providing guidance on administrative procedures at the office or through the National Public Service Portal, not via phone, text message, or social networks.

Immediately notify the nearest police station if any suspicion is detected.

VietinBank has also just issued a "3 no's" and "4 do's" recommendation for customers to avoid being scammed by scammers trying to break into their accounts.

Accordingly, VietinBank recommends that customers absolutely do not install fake public service software (Ministry of Public Security, VNeID, General Department of Land Management, General Department of Taxation...) from strange websites/links/QRCodes or APK files.

Never click on strange links sent via email/message.

Absolutely do not provide confidential information such as username, password, OTP code... to anyone in any form, including police or bank employees.

Along with that, VietinBank recommends that customers only install software on the App Store/Google Play/CH Play application markets.

When installing any application, users should read the information carefully before agreeing to all terms, check the author (developer) information and read reviews about the application.

Regularly update criminal methods and tricks on mass media and bank websites/applications.

If there are signs of suspected fraud, you should immediately contact the bank and the police for timely support.

Previously, VietinBank informed and advised customers about the official channel to register for an international credit card, VietinBank's Eliv3 card. At the same time, VietinBank warned about the situation of fraudsters impersonating bank employees calling to guide them to open cards online.

“Fraudsters often only introduce and entice customers to register online, then ask customers to provide personal information, OTP information or request immediate deposit into the account with the reason to ensure the opening of a credit card,” the bank noted.

Therefore, customers should be wary of calls/text messages impersonating authorities or bank officials inviting them to issue or increase credit card limits or other financial services.
