At the Vietnamese cultural event in Seoul, the film “The Scent of Green Papaya” released in 1994, the first Vietnamese film to be nominated for an Oscar for best foreign language film, will be screened on August 19 and 20.

Seoul Botanical Park will host a Vietnamese-themed summer event called "Green Papaya Scent" from August 18-20.

The event was held in the greenhouse and outdoor grounds of the botanical garden.

At this event, the film “The Scent of Green Papaya” released in 1994, the first Vietnamese film to be nominated for an Oscar for best foreign language film, will be screened three times on August 19 and 20.

The organizers said the flea market selling Vietnamese handicrafts, food ingredients and vegan products will be held from 10am to 9pm on August 19 and 20.

On August 19, a book launch will be held. The author of “So, Vietnam” Soyul will speak about the situations he experienced in a small city in Vietnam.

Within the framework of the event, the Organizing Committee also displayed and arranged for visitors to experience traditional products and folk games of Vietnam. Viewers can see how to make lotus lanterns, conical hats, and shuttlecock games.

"We will prepare various programs such as exhibitions and lectures on botanical and cultural themes for each season to provide visitors with experiences and fun every time they visit the botanical garden," said Seoul Botanical Park Director Kim Dae-seong.
