Prosecution of former Chief Prosecutor of Dien Bien Phu City People's Procuracy for "receiving bribes"

The specific case is as follows: On March 21, the Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, issue an arrest warrant for temporary detention, and approval decisions of the Supreme People's Procuracy against Bui Thi Thu Hang.

Defendant Hang was formerly the Chief Prosecutor of Dien Bien Phu City People's Procuracy, currently an intermediate prosecutor, Department of Prosecution of Detention, Temporary Detention and Execution of Sentences (Department 8), Dien Bien Provincial People's Procuracy.

Bui Thi Thu Hang was prosecuted for the crime of "receiving bribes" under Clause 1, Article 354 of the 2015 Penal Code for the following acts: At the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, Bui Thi Thu Hang assigned Vu Dinh Hai as a prosecutor to handle the Dang Thi Thuy case. Hai then received 80 million VND from Le Xuan Hong (Deputy Director of the Dien Bien Provincial Children's Protection Fund) to resolve the case without criminal prosecution against Hong in the above case and gave Hang more than 30 million VND. Hang then divided 10 million VND to Hai.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and clarify the incident.
