Over the past few days, people in Thanh Hong commune (Thanh Ha, Hai Duong) have been very upset about the air pollution caused by burning garbage at the commune's centralized landfill.
Local household waste is collected from villages in the commune to a landfill of nearly 3,000 m² located outside the residential area. Instead of being treated before being buried, the waste is burned right at the landfill. The indiscriminate burning of waste causes smoke, affecting people's health, especially in the early morning and late afternoon.
In October 2024, Thanh Ha District People's Committee approved Thanh Hong Commune to transport waste to the centralized waste treatment plant in Cam Viet Commune. Up to now, the commune has not been able to arrange a suitable transfer point, leading to the situation where waste continues to pile up at the collection site.
