Inauguration of the project to restore and embellish the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School relic

This morning, August 9, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province to inaugurate and hand over the project to restore and embellish the national historical relic site of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, in Tan Thai commune, Dai Tu district.

Delegates performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the national monument site of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School.

The program is one of the activities to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) and National Day September 2. This is also the first activity in a series of activities towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Journalists Association (April 21, 1950 - April 21, 2025).

75 years ago (April 4, 1949), in Bo Ra village, Tan Thai commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province, Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School was established. This was the first journalism training facility of Vietnam's revolutionary press, and also the only training facility during the resistance war against French colonialism.

On March 28, 2019, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 1182/QD-BVHTTDL to rank the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School as a National Monument. On April 4, 2019, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with Thai Nguyen province to organize the inauguration ceremony of the monument stele.

On January 18, 2024, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province and relevant agencies to start the project to restore and embellish the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School relic.

After nearly 7 months of construction, the project was completed with technical and aesthetic assurance. With the inauguration of the project to restore and embellish the national historical relic of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, the Vietnam Journalists Association and Thai Nguyen province hope to exploit and effectively promote the great historical values ​​of the relic; add another meaningful destination to the map of contemporary Vietnamese journalism, meet the expectations of generations of journalists nationwide, and actively contribute to the work of propaganda and historical education.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh highly appreciated the Vietnam Journalists Association and Thai Nguyen province for their cooperation in restoring and embellishing the relic. At the same time, she requested that after receiving the relic, the agencies will closely and regularly coordinate with the Vietnam Journalists Association to carry out useful activities, exploit and use it effectively to continue to preserve, conserve and promote the sustainable value of an important relic; a place connecting the history, present and future of Vietnam's revolutionary press; meeting the people's needs for research, study and source tourism...

Comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, thanked the attention and presence of the leaders of the Party, State, central ministries, branches and Thai Nguyen province; thanked the construction sponsor, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and the management consulting, design, supervision, construction contractors... for joining hands and unanimously renovating and embellishing the project to ensure progress and meet quality requirements.

He suggested that the Vietnam Press Museum coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province, the People's Committee of Dai Tu district, the Relic Management Board and related units to continue researching and perfecting plans and projects to manage, protect and promote the value of relics; linking with historical and cultural sites, forming meaningful source tourism routes...

At the program, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 groups; the Vietnam Journalists Association awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 groups and individuals with outstanding achievements and contributions to the construction of the national historical site of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School. The Journalists and Public Opinion Newspapers presented gifts to 20 local students.
