Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School was the first journalism training facility of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press and also the only training facility during the resistance war against French colonialism.
In celebration of the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) and National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024), the inauguration and handover program of the project to restore and embellish the national historical site of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, co-organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, will take place on the morning of August 9 in Tan Thai commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province. This is also the first activity in a series of activities towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025) and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Journalists Association (April 21, 1950 - April 21, 2025).
75 years ago (April 4, 1949), in the middle of the mountains and forests of ATK Viet Bac, Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School was born. This was the first journalism training facility of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press and also the only training facility during the resistance war against French colonialism.
On March 28, 2019, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 1182/QD-BVHTTDL to rank the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School as a national relic in the designated relic area of plot 32, map sheet 47, Tan Thai commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province.
On that basis, on April 4, 2019, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with Thai Nguyen province to solemnly organize the inauguration ceremony of the monument stele on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School.
In 2024, to practically celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, the Vietnam Journalists Association, in coordination with the People's Committee and functional agencies of Thai Nguyen province, implemented the project to restore and embellish the national relic site of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School in Tan Thai commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province.
On January 18, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the restoration of the national monument Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School was held.
Up to now, after 7 months of construction, with the active coordination of the leaders and departments of Thai Nguyen province, Dai Tu district, Tan Thai commune and the support of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School relic project has basically completed the main items.
The Vietnam Journalists Association and Thai Nguyen province wish to effectively exploit and promote the great historical values of the relic, adding a meaningful destination to the contemporary Vietnamese press map, meeting the expectations of generations of journalists nationwide, attracting domestic and foreign audiences, and actively contributing to the propaganda and education of history for the younger generation.
We plan to coordinate with the authorities to include the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School relic in the list of tourist attractions of the “Windy Capital” - the capital of the country during the resistance war against the French colonialists (including Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Bac Kan), in which Thai Nguyen holds a particularly important position, the central position of the “Resistance Capital”. We will also step up propaganda to local journalist associations, inter-associations and branches of journalist associations nationwide with the hope that all journalists will clearly see the importance of this relic, thereby considering it a red address for journalists, especially young journalists, to turn to the source, to learn about the heroic history of journalism, to listen to stories of generations of predecessors and to build for the future of the country's journalism.

After restoration and embellishment, the relic is expected to be exploited and organized to welcome delegations of visitors, journalists, students and pupils to study and experience the history of journalism; at the same time, it will be a place to organize conferences and seminars on journalism, organize short-term training programs, issue membership cards of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and award ceremonies for regional and local journalism awards.
In particular, the Vietnam Journalists Association hopes that when put into operation, the exhibitions on Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School and Viet Bac War Zone Press here will not only contribute to preserving and introducing valuable press documents and artifacts from the period 1946 - 1954 but also affirm the great achievements of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press in the struggles to defend the country and in the journey of national construction.
