Rescue efforts are underway in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand to rescue at least 40 workers trapped in a tunnel under construction that collapsed on November 12.
The tunnel collapse happened early in the morning, when two groups of construction workers were changing shifts.
According to local disaster response agency representative Durgesh Rathodi, about 200m of the tunnel collapsed; about 40-41 workers were trapped inside.
Oxygen is being delivered to the people, however rocks and soil continue to fall as rescuers work.
The 4.5km tunnel is under construction. Government rescuers have released photos showing large concrete pillars blocking the tunnel.
India's PTI news agency quoted a local police official as saying they were "very optimistic" that the workers could be brought out safely, but "it is difficult to say how long the process will take".
The construction of the tunnel is part of the Indian government's Char Dham road project to improve connectivity to the country's largest Hindu shrines as well as the border area with China.
