Writer Nguyen The Ky, Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts, has just released the novel collection “From Viet Bac to Hanoi”. This is the third volume in his novel series “Nuoc non van dam”.
The novel series “Nuoc non van dam” has 5 volumes: Volume 1 “Nô nước non” published in 2022; Volume 2 “Lênh trôi bạn bân bien” published in 2023 has been introduced to the literature-loving public. The novel series is a great song about a great man: President Ho Chi Minh, the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people and peace-loving people in the world.
With nearly 200 pages, volume 3 titled "From Viet Bac to Hanoi", the author divided into 5 chapters successfully depicts the image of Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh from the beginning of 1941 to the success of the August Revolution. On the afternoon of September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. During those short 5 years, President Ho Chi Minh kindled and fanned the flame of revolution in Cao Bang, the northernmost land of the Fatherland.
In this volume, writer Nguyen The Ky chose an extremely important period of the Vietnamese revolution from the first years of President Ho Chi Minh's return to the Fatherland until he and his people and comrades returned to the capital Hanoi. This was a very difficult period of the Vietnamese revolution and also a period of survival for the entire nation.
Chapter 1, written about the period from January 28, 1941 to the Central Conference on May 8, 1941, the author portrays the portrait of Him after 30 years of searching for a way to save the country, returning to the Fatherland, directly leading the Vietnamese revolution. Here, He and his comrades organized and lived in deep forests and mountains, wrote documents, organized national salvation forces to establish the Viet Minh Front, and prepared for the Central Conference on May 8, 1941... He named Lenin stream and Karl Marx mountain.
Chapter 2 is the revolutionary life of President Ho Chi Minh from the 8th Central Conference in May 1941 until he went to China. Also during this time, he published the newspaper Doc Lap, organized a concentrated armed force, opened political and military training classes, moved from Khuoi Nam to Lam Son base and then returned to Pac Bo. During this time, he traveled back and forth between the Vietnam-China border, connecting with the Chinese revolution to help the Vietnamese revolution...
Chapter 3 is the story of his life from when he went to Jingxi, China until August 9, 1944, when he returned to Vietnam to prepare for the General Uprising. This is a very touching chapter about him. The pages of literature depict his vivid image, the Chinese people's feelings for Ho Chi Minh and his time in prison under Chiang Kai-shek's regime. This is also the time when the immortal work "Prison Diary" was born.
Chapter 4 is a picture of President Ho Chi Minh's life from the time he was released by the Chiang Kai-shek Government and returned to Vietnam in August 1944 until the Japanese coup against the French on March 9, 1945. Ho Chi Minh's efforts in building diplomatic relations with the US Government through the release of American pilots shot down by the Japanese army. He advocated armed struggle and established the Propaganda Liberation Army and the first victories in Phai Khat, Na Ngan...
Chapter 5 is the story of his life from May 1945 to the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945. He returned from Khuoi Nam to Tan Trao and from Tan Trao to Hanoi, established the Viet Bac Liberated Zone, received help from the US Government through the field airport, wrote the Declaration of Independence and his emotional feelings for the people of the capital during the days he returned to Hanoi.
Writer Nguyen The Ky said that when writing a historical novel about a historical figure, he faced great challenges, which was the extremely rich source of information about President Ho Chi Minh. Therefore, he had to know how to handle that huge amount of information skillfully, otherwise the writer would become a person who mechanically copied official history and would publish lifeless pages… With a careful attitude, innate literary talent, and rich language ability, writer Nguyen The Ky wrote very lively and attractive pages about Him.
Through 198 pages of volume 3, Nguyen The Ky successfully portrayed President Ho Chi Minh as always filled with patriotism, boundless love for the people and a profound spirit of national solidarity.
If volumes 4 and 5 of the novel series "Nuoc non van dam" are completed as planned by the author (volume 4 will be released before September 2, 2024 and volume 5 will be released before May 19, 2025), this will be the first novel series of contemporary Vietnamese literature to fully, deeply and vividly reflect the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh.
