Suoi Cop - A good novel about the war against America by Lieutenant General Huu Uoc

The war novel by writer - Lieutenant General Huu Uoc has just been launched in Hanoi with a large number of participants. Suoi Cop is 500 pages thick, set in the Suoi Cop area, a place where the Eastern Truong Son range begins, adjacent to the Western Truong Son range and very close to Highway 9 Quang Tri.

The book was published by the Writers Association Publishing House in 2022, now reprinted with additions.

Huu Uoc's view of war is no longer binary, black and white, us and the enemy. His writing does not stop at objective events but always delves into the innermost realm of human beings. Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association Nguyen Quang Thieu was impressed with the story of love and sex densely packed throughout the work because this was the first war novel he read that was written about love between a man and a woman, about sex at the ultimate level where death was always near.

Describing soldiers from the most "human" perspective can easily fall into vulgarity if not done properly. But the delicate pen in the passages about love in the middle of the battlefield in Suoi Cop, on the contrary, has made the soldiers very human with full human beauty.

Karen Gottschang Turner, professor of history and humanities at Holy Cross College and author of "When the enemy comes, even women fight" shares this feeling.
