More than 2,000 people attend the 2023 People's Public Security Forces Sports Festival

On November 6, in Dong Hoi, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee and the Quang Binh Provincial Police to organize the opening ceremony of the 2023 People's Public Security Forces Sports Festival.

Attending the opening ceremony were Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; leaders and representatives of units under the Ministry, and the People's Committee of Quang Binh province.

The 2023 People's Public Security Force Sports Festival includes 3 events: running applications, table tennis and applied swimming. The festival brings together 116 delegations of athletes and coaches from professional departments, People's Public Security Schools and Public Security of 63 provinces and cities across the country.

The total number of delegates, athletes and coaches attending was more than 2,000 people, of which 1,500 athletes participated in the competition. The application running content had 106 participating units; the application swimming had 99 units; and the table tennis had 76 units.

At the opening ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security, said that the 2023 People's Public Security Sports Festival is an important political event and a major sports activity of the People's Public Security force to promote the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and the movement "Healthy to build and protect the Fatherland" for the period 2021-2030.

This is an opportunity for officers and soldiers in the entire force to demonstrate their abilities, bravery and fighting spirit; an occasion to evaluate the actual results of sports training of police units and localities; to select, honor and commend achievements in the physical education and sports movement.

The sports festival aims to promote the movement of physical training and sports following the example of great Uncle Ho; encourage officers and soldiers to participate in regular physical training and sports to improve their health, physical strength, capacity, and professional qualifications, contributing to the successful implementation of assigned tasks. This is also an opportunity to screen professional athletes and high-performance athletes to compete in the top sports environment domestically and internationally.

Mr. Tran Thang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province, stated: The province always pays attention to directing, investing in the budget, allocating land funds and investing in building infrastructure, having policies to promote human resources, discover and nurture sports talents; promoting the physical training and sports movement at all levels and sectors, especially high-performance sports, to increasingly develop, contributing to improving health, physical strength, stature, and improving the spiritual life of the people in the area; creating a source of quality athletes, bringing glory to the country.

According to statistics, every year, the province's sports teams participating in national, regional and international competitions win an average of 140-150 medals of all kinds.

The Chairman of the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in addition to the exciting moments of the sports festival, delegates and athletes should spend time learning and exploring more about Quang Binh, a land of talented people, rich in revolutionary traditions, home to many heritages, historical relics, famous landscapes, unique culinary culture, and friendly and hospitable people.

The sports festival takes place from November 4-13.
