Hoi An Ancient Town (Quang Nam, Vietnam) has been honored to top the list of the safest solo travel destinations in the world compiled by the American website Smoky Mountains.
According to the website, Hoi An has a crime rate of 6.25, compared to Lima, Peru, which has the highest crime rate of 84.51.
Smoky Mountains notes that for solo travelers, a sense of safety can make or break a traveler's memorable experience with the land they choose to visit.
“You don’t have to worry about being pickpocketed, assaulted, kidnapped, or harmed during your trip. Fortunately, there are some places that take precautions to make you feel safe during your visit. Hoi An is one of those destinations,” notes Smoky Mountains writer Brittany Mendez.
Additionally, Hoi An is also considered one of the cheapest tourist destinations in Asia with an average cost per tourist of less than 800 USD per month.
Other destinations on the list include Kyoto in Japan, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Madeira in Portugal, Queenstown in New Zealand, Naples in Florida, Reykjavik in Iceland, Santa Barbara in California, Prague in the Czech Republic and Munich in Germany.
The above list from SmokyMountains.com was made by taking the most commonly mentioned solo travel destinations on the internet, then ranking them based on average cost, crime rate, and reviews from travelers who have experienced solo travel.
