Famous family

The Le family is one of the original families, with the second largest population in Vietnam. According to the book Festivals and Historical Celebrities of Vietnam by author Ha Tung Tien, Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong was a member of the Le family in My Duc (Hanoi). At the end of the 18th Hung King period, in 258 BC, Thuc Phan ascended the throne, proclaimed himself An Duong Vuong, abandoned the national title Van Lang and changed the name to Au Lac, established the capital in Dong Kinh, and built Co Loa citadel. Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong is honored as the ancestor of the Le family in Vietnam.

Over thousands of years of history, along with hundreds of other families, the Le family has contributed their efforts, talents, intelligence and blood to build and protect Vietnam's country. The Le family has established two royal dynasties: Tien Le and Hau Le, for a total of 399 years. In the list of mandarin examinations in the Nguyen Dynasty in 115 years, there are 650 village officials, bachelors, doctors and vice-principals who are descendants of the Le family.

History books also record Lady Le Chan, the hero who together with the Trung Sisters defeated the Han Dynasty and established independence. Over the periods, many prominent scholars and intellectuals with the surname Le also appeared, such as: Le Van Huu, a historian of the Tran Dynasty (author of Dai Viet Su Ky); Le Quy Don, a scholar of the Le Trung Hung Dynasty; The divine physician of the Vietnamese land Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac...

During the two struggles against French colonialism and American imperialism, the Le family contributed many outstanding revolutionaries to the country. In peacetime, many Le family members held important positions in the Party, State, and army...

In Hai Duong, the land that produced many famous people and talented people, there are also many people with the surname Le.

Le Canh Tuan from Mo Trach village (Binh Giang) was a scholar who was not only good at literature but also had integrity during the Tran Dynasty. His second son, Le Thieu Dinh, followed Le Loi to participate in the Lam Son uprising and then became a mandarin of the Later Le Dynasty. His grandson was Hoang Giap Le Tu, and his great-grandson was Hoang Giap Le Quang Bi of the Mac Dynasty.

Nowadays, the people of Dong are still proud of the legend of the good-eating, good-studying mandarin Le Nai. Later, Le Nai passed the mandarin exam in 1505.

Hai Duong also has a temple to worship King Le Dai Hanh in An Lac ward (Chi Linh city), a temple to worship King Le Thai To in Minh Tan commune (Nam Sach). In the province, there are 4 communal houses worshiping the god who is a Le. Typical are the temples to worship Le Viet Hung, Le Viet Quang, and generals of the Hai Ba Trung period at Ngoc Uyen communal house (Hai Duong city)...

In Hai Duong, there are currently hundreds of Le clans with tens of thousands of people. The Le clan in Hai Duong province always turn to their roots and show gratitude to their ancestors. The Le clan in Hai Duong has 4 people who were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, 3 excellent teachers, 4 people who were generals in the army during the resistance against the French and the Americans; hundreds of Le clan members heroically sacrificed their lives in the resistance wars. The clan in the province also has 90 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

Unity and development

Looking back to the roots and showing gratitude to ancestors, on July 12, 2014, the Le Hai Duong Clan Council was launched and held the first Le Clan Congress of Hai Duong province.

According to Major General Le Ngoc Oa, former Chairman of the Le Hai Duong Clan Council, the establishment of the Le Hai Duong Clan Council aims to promote the good traditions of the clan, educate descendants to follow the example of their ancestors, and unite to build the country.

After 10 years of operation (2014 - 2024), the Le Clan Council of Hai Duong province has united, gathered, and connected Le clan members throughout the province into a unified bloc, considering clan affairs as family and national affairs.

The clan has also built according to the Vietnamese Le Clan Convention, established history committees, education promotion committees, and the Le Clan Business Club of the province.

12/12 districts, cities and towns in the province have provisional Le clan councils or committees to promote the establishment of district-level Le clan councils. Up to now, 5 localities including Gia Loc, Thanh Ha, Binh Giang, Thanh Mien districts and Kinh Mon town have organized the Le clan congress and launched the district-level Le clan advocacy committee.

The work of encouraging learning and talent has been given attention. The Le Family Education Promotion Board of the province has awarded over 500 gifts to Le family's students who are good at studying. The Le Family Business Club in Hai Duong is one of the first units in the country to launch and operate effectively.

The 3rd Congress of the Le Family Council of Hai Duong province for the term (2024 - 2029) will be held on December 14, 2024. This is an opportunity for generations of descendants of the Le family in Hai Duong to gather, connect, pay tribute to their ancestors, unite and develop.

With the tradition maintained over many years, we believe that the solidarity of the Le family will become increasingly close, bringing meaningful values ​​to all people.
