In the early morning of August 2, in the quiet night of the Golden Triangle Economic Zone (Bo Keo province, Laos), a surprise raid took place.
Previously, after months of undercover operations and evidence collection, the Ha Tinh Provincial Police force was ready to dismantle a large-scale international fraud criminal organization hiding in the Golden Triangle Economic Zone.
On the morning of July 31, the special task force set out with great determination to dismantle this criminal ring. The journey from Vietnam to Laos was arduous, crossing dangerous mountain roads and sudden rains. The closer they got to the criminals’ lair, the more tense the atmosphere became. Each member of the team was aware of the importance of their mission and was ready to face any situation.
At 3:30 a.m. on August 2, the attack order was given. Special forces quickly surrounded the high-rise building where the criminals were hiding. The sound of orders, the sound of breaking down the door, the sound of heavy footsteps... all created a suffocating atmosphere.
After many hours of fierce fighting, all 155 subjects were arrested. The seized evidence included nearly 100 passports, 74 pills of ecstasy, 18,900 yuan, dozens of computers, nearly 500 phones, thousands of unregistered SIM cards, and other tools and documents used to commit fraud.
After 4 tense hours, the siege of the illegal building finally ended, but the task of the criminal police officers had only just begun. Sweating profusely and hungry, they still had to face the "huge" challenge of repatriating a large number of suspects back to their country.
An officer in the task force recalled that although he had participated in solving dozens of large and small cases, this mission brought him an indescribable feeling. Going through many winding roads, steep passes, many landslides and erosions because it was the rainy and flood season, made many of his teammates feel nervous.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Phi Hai, Head of the Criminal Police Department (Ha Tinh Provincial Police) emphasized: The arrest is just the beginning. The biggest difficulty is ensuring the safety of both the task force and the suspects during the move. Just a small mistake can make the situation complicated.
After much deliberation, the authorities decided to gather all the suspects at the Golden Triangle Economic Zone Police Headquarters to move to Vientiane (Laos) the next day. The next day, as soon as the convoy left Bo Keo province, an unexpected incident occurred. A heavy rain caused a landslide blocking the dangerous road. The convoy of dozens of vehicles was stuck in the middle of the wild mountains and forests. Faced with the critical situation, the detectives had to quickly contact the local rescue force to find a way to clear the jam. In particular, they faced great pressure from protecting the safety of a large number of suspects in inadequate and dangerous conditions.
On August 7, when they returned with 155 suspects and evidence, the soldiers hugged each other and congratulated each other. The sweat rolling down their tanned faces was clear evidence of a glorious victory.
This is a resounding victory of the Ha Tinh Police in coordination with the Department of Police for Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking under the Lao Ministry of Public Security, the Economic Zone Police in Bo Keo province; representatives of the Vietnamese police in Laos, the Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), the Ha Tinh Border Guard and other professional units.
