Hundreds of university lecturers are in trouble because their salaries have not been paid for 8 months.

Quang Binh University confirmed that 136 officials and employees have not received their salaries for 2 to 8 months. Due to difficulties in enrollment and reduced revenue, the university has not paid salaries and other benefits to employees according to regulations.

In addition to salaries, other payments such as overtime pay and emulation and reward payments for lecturers and staff are also in arrears. Many lecturers and staff reflect that they are the main pillars of their families, and their salaries from the school are the main source of income to cover and serve their lives. However, during the past time, due to lack of salary and income, they have had to find many ways to maintain their lives.

The hardest part is that there are families where both husband and wife work at the school and both are owed wages, so life is very difficult.

At the end of December 2023, the School Union Standing Committee registered to work with the Party Committee Standing Committee and the School Board of Directors to find measures to ensure the workers' regime.

However, according to the conclusion of Party Secretary and Principal Nguyen Duc Vuong, from January to March 2024, the school still has no source to pay salaries for 136 civil servants and contract workers while the Lunar New Year 2024 is approaching. Upon receiving the information, many lecturers and staff of the school became even more sad and frustrated.

"What we expect is to be paid to cover our living expenses, not to hope for a Tet bonus anymore," said an anonymous lecturer.

Currently, the Trade Union of Quang Binh University has reported the delay in paying salaries and related benefits to employees at the school to the Quang Binh Provincial Labor Federation.

Previously, after the Principal and Chief Accountant of Quang Binh University were disciplined, the provincial Social Insurance recently announced that the school owes 232 staff members more than 2 billion VND in social insurance. This school is in the top 10 units that owe the most social insurance to employees.

It is known that Quang Binh University is the only university training institution in the locality. The school currently has 236 officials and employees, including 154 lecturers and 82 officials doing administrative work and service staff.

Of the total 236 officials and employees, 99 officials receive salaries from the State budget, 137 officials and contract workers receive salaries from the unit's budget.
