Vietnam Aviation Administration requests airlines to increase flights and arrange night flights during Tet peak season

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just issued a Directive on ensuring order and safety of aviation traffic during the New Year, Lunar New Year and the Giap Thin Spring Festival in 2024.

Accordingly, the Civil Aviation Authority requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to develop a service plan and arrange human resources to ensure infrastructure, equipment, and facilities to maintain service quality and security and order at the airport, provide good and safe flight services, and meet people's travel needs.

ACV focuses on arranging additional aviation security staff, vehicles, and equipment in the airport area to quickly carry out security screening, return luggage to passengers, and provide information so that passengers know and collect their luggage in the correct designated area, avoiding congestion and causing frustration for passengers, with special attention to Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai International Airports.

This unit reviews and reasonably arranges the areas for vehicles to enter and exit to pick up and drop off passengers, and the parking area to wait for passengers to meet the needs of the increased number of passengers during peak times; increases staff to guide vehicles entering/exiting the passenger terminal to pick up/drop off passengers and applies science and technology to support coordination activities, facilitate traffic, avoid conflicts and traffic jams in the airport area.

ACV proactively contacts and closely coordinates with the Department of Transport, Traffic Inspectorate in cities, localities and competent authorities to organize traffic flow, reduce congestion in airports and traffic areas connecting to and from passenger terminals, especially at Tan Son Nhat International Airport; promptly detects and coordinates to strictly handle organizations and individuals related to the situation of "illegal vehicles", enticing passengers, and illegal fare increases.

The Airport Corporation shall arrange the most convenient parking locations for bus routes operating at the airport so that passengers can easily recognize and use bus services, especially at Tan Son Nhat Airport; strengthen the internal inspection and supervision force on operational safety and inspect and supervise the service provision of taxi and technology car companies authorized to operate at the airport; have strict handling measures (organizations and individuals) for cases where company employees solicit and overcharge customers.

For the project that stops construction during the 2024 Tet holiday, ACV must clean up the construction site, concentrate construction equipment in the right place, and fully arrange barriers, signs, signal lights, etc. to minimize the impact on the flow of aircraft, vehicles, and people traveling at the airport, ensuring safe operations.

For Vietnamese airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority requires developing plans to increase flights, especially during peak periods, and arranging night flights to meet people's travel needs based on aviation infrastructure and security and safety assurance.

Airlines develop plans and control measures to minimize flight delays and cancellations; prevent passengers from returning home for Tet late due to lack of transportation; strengthen control work and ensure aviation safety.

During the peak Tet holiday, people's demand for air travel increases.

For ground service providers and aviation service providers, the Civil Aviation Authority requires units to develop specific plans, solutions, and measures to ensure the ability to provide services during the New Year and Lunar New Year 2024, and ensure adequate resources and equipment to serve flights according to the airlines' increased flight operation plans.

In addition, the Civil Aviation Authority also requested port authorities to strengthen inspection and supervision of delayed and canceled flights; and the obligations of Vietnamese airlines to passengers in case of delayed or canceled flights.

The airport authority closely coordinates with the Department of Transport and other relevant agencies to organize traffic flow and reduce traffic congestion on roads around the airport area, especially at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai International Airports; promptly detects and strictly handles organizations and individuals involved in the situation of "illegal buses and stations" and illegal fare increases.
