Hai Duong considers cutting down on project items to preserve Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site

The People's Committee of Hai Duong province has a report at the 18th session of the 17th Provincial People's Council (special session) scheduled to take place on the morning of November 6 on the proposal to decide on adjusting the investment policy of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Historical - Cultural Relics Conservation Project associated with tourism development.

The People's Committee of Hai Duong province said the reason for the adjustment was the need to correct the investment location to match the reality. Along with that, the total investment after reviewing at the stage of preparing the feasibility study report was 181 billion VND, an increase of 81 billion VND compared to the total estimated investment approved by the Provincial People's Council in Resolution No. 43/NQ-HDND dated December 8, 2022 on deciding the investment policy of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Historical - Cultural Relics Conservation Project associated with tourism development. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee assessed that it was necessary to adjust and reduce the scale of some items to ensure the ability to balance capital.

The Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee also said that some investment items in the Lumbini Garden area do not have enough conditions and time to invest in the period of 2023-2025. The items to renovate the Kiep Bac Temple guest house, the headquarters of the Relic Management Board, the guest house of the Relic Management Board, and the restrooms can be invested in later with other legal capital sources.

Accordingly, the adjusted project investment content and scale include the restoration of Vien Lang, Vien Lang Lake (Ngoc Lake) and Kiep Bac Temple area; renovation of Ban Nguyet Lake, the parking lot southwest of Ban Nguyet Lake, construction of a new waiting room at the parking lot, and investment in infrastructure of Con Son Pagoda area. The adjusted construction location is Cong Hoa Ward and Hung Dao Commune (the approved location is Cong Hoa Ward and Le Loi Commune, Chi Linh City).
