According to statistics from Hai Duong Electricity One Member Co., Ltd., during the one hour of Earth Hour (from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 23), the whole province saved 38,300 kWh of electricity, an increase of 1,800 kWh compared to the Earth Hour event in 2023, equivalent to 76.6 million VND.
According to Hai Duong Newspaper reporters, during Earth Hour 2024, many agencies and units in Hai Duong City actively responded, but most banks, restaurants and houses still turned on many types of lights that were not really necessary.
The Earth Hour campaign in Vietnam is co-organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. 2024 is also the 16th time Vietnam has actively participated in the program. With the theme "Saving electricity becomes a habit", the campaign aims to create positive changes in the community regarding the awareness of the meaning and benefits of saving energy, protecting the environment, and responding to climate change.
