In Vietnam, the World Conservation Union, together with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, called on the public to respond to the theme “Reducing Carbon Footprint - Towards Net Zero”. Many events were organized to raise awareness and call on the community to act together for the common goal of Vietnam.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature officially introduced the Hour Bank platform with the expectation of receiving at least 10,000 hours of support for the Earth from the Vietnamese people. According to the representative of the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Vietnam, the Hour Bank allows users to discover activities that are suitable for them in 6 areas: food; sports and health; entertainment; arts and creativity; sustainability; nature. Each individual can simultaneously perform many useful activities for the Earth, spreading positive messages to the community from daily hobbies and lifestyles.

By accessing the World Wide Fund for Nature Vietnam Time Bank page, with each visit and registration/completion of an activity, the system will record the time each person contributes to the Earth. The total time each country registers in the Hour Bank and the global ranking will be published on the International Earth Hour website after the campaign.

Ms. Pham Cam Nhung, Manager of the Climate and Energy Program of the World Wildlife Fund in Vietnam, shared that Earth Hour is an opportunity for us to look back and reflect. Besides turning off the lights, each person can do many practical things to protect our only common home.

Every small action in daily life can bring high efficiency, contribute to saving resources, reduce negative impacts on the environment. This is the message of the Save Viet Nam - We Are One Environmental Volunteer Club (under VINASEP Vietnam Quality and Environment Certification Joint Stock Company) through the Electricity Saving Challenge campaign.

The campaign includes three challenges: use the stairs; turn off the power when not in use and turn off the screen when not in use.

The first challenge attracted many people in Hoang Mai and Thanh Xuan districts to participate, especially young office workers - those who often use elevators. The goal of the challenge is to use stairs instead of elevators as many times as possible to help participants improve their physical fitness and avoid relying on assistive devices.

The challenge of turning off the power when not in use had 700 people sign up to participate in just 3 days. Through their efforts in propaganda, volunteers have helped people become more aware of the waste of electricity if they do not turn off the power when not in use.

With the challenge of turning off the screen when not in use, the number of registrations and supporters reached nearly 500 people.

All 3 challenges not only help save a large amount of electricity consumption, helping to reduce electricity costs for participants, but also contribute to environmental protection.

Recently, the Earth Hour 2024 Run organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade took place at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi. The race attracted nearly 1,500 people, including officials, civil servants, employees, and workers in the Ministry of Industry and Trade and related agencies; representatives of units, social organizations, and industry associations; representatives of production and business enterprises; people who love running; athletes from a number of grassroots running clubs...

The tournament spreads the message "Saving electricity - Make it a habit" to the community to join the campaign, practice saving electricity regularly throughout 365 days, making saving electricity a habit anytime, anywhere. In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organizes the race online through the Uprace sports training application, deployed nationwide from March 16 to March 31.
