Gold prices today December 17 increased simultaneously

At the end of the week, December 17, SJC gold prices were listed by businesses at 73.4 million VND/tael for buying and 74.4 million VND/tael for selling, an increase of 50,000 VND/tael compared to yesterday. Compared to the end of last week, each tael of gold increased by 300,000 VND/tael and is heading towards the historical peak set a few weeks ago at 74.6 million VND/tael.

Meanwhile, the price of jewelry gold and 24K gold rings of all kinds were also traded at around 60.8 million VND/tael for buying and 61.8 million VND/tael for selling, down 50,000 VND/tael compared to yesterday. Compared to the end of last week, the price of gold rings and jewelry of all kinds increased by 100,000 VND/tael.

Both SJC gold prices, gold rings and jewelry gold prices have remained consistently high in recent days, despite strong fluctuations in world prices, sharp declines and then recoveries. According to some gold companies, the increasing demand for domestic gold purchases has made it difficult for gold prices to decrease.

In the international market, the price of gold today closed the trading week at 2,019 USD/ounce, up nearly 20 USD/ounce compared to the end of last week. The world gold price recovered after a week of falling sharply by 70 USD/ounce. However, the gold price is still at a low level compared to the peak of around 2,150 USD/ounce set in early December.

World gold prices recovered as investors believed that the US Federal Reserve (FED) kept its policy interest rate unchanged at its December policy meeting and signaled that it would cut interest rates about three times in 2024. Investors also expressed optimism about the recovery of gold prices in the coming days, according to Kitco's survey results.

Specifically, in the Wall Street survey, 12 analysts participated in the response, of which 25% said that gold prices would increase, 25% said that gold prices would decrease and up to 50% predicted that gold prices would remain unchanged. Meanwhile, in the online survey on Main Street, investors were more optimistic when out of 594 respondents, up to 64% said that gold prices would increase, only 20% said that gold prices would decrease and the remaining 16% predicted that gold prices would remain unchanged.
