Accordingly, commercial banks have raised the USD price to the ceiling, surpassing the peak set in the middle of this year. Compared to the beginning of the year, the USD price on the official market is currently about 4.4% higher.
Specifically, Vietcombank listed the exchange rate at 25,150 - 25,502 VND, up 22 VND compared to yesterday. BIDV also raised the USD price to 25,180 - 25,502 VND. At Eximbank, the buying and selling price of the US dollar increased to 25,140 - 25,502 VND.
However, the USD buying and selling price in the free market today has the opposite trend, decreasing slightly and still far from the peak. Some foreign exchange points in the market are anchored at 25,450 - 25,650 VND.
The bank USD price increased in the context of the USD Index reaching a 6-month high, after Mr. Donald Trump was re-elected as US President. Currently, the index measuring the strength of the greenback is up to more than 106 points, up nearly 1.8% since the beginning of the month.
While the USD rose, the price of precious metals fell to a one-month low, to the region of 2,605 USD an ounce.
Domestically, the price of gold bars today remained the same while gold rings decreased slightly compared to yesterday, the buying and selling gap widened. Compared to the record set at the end of October, each tael of gold is now 7-9 million VND lower. SJC listed plain rings at 79.7 - 82.2 million VND per tael, down 200,000 VND compared to yesterday. At DOJI, the price of plain rings is 81.1 - 83.2 million VND. PNJ listed 80.8 - 82.4 million VND.
