Georgia and the Czech Republic will face off in Group F EURO 2024 at 8pm on June 22. The common point between the two teams is that they both lost their opening matches against Türkiye and Portugal. The losing team in this match will have a hard time getting out of the group stage.
At EURO 2024, Georgia is the lowest ranked team in the FIFA rankings. However, the Eastern European team played hard in a 1-3 loss to their neighbors Türkiye. Unfortunately, a last-minute goal sank any hope of Georgia getting a point.
Tuesday’s defeat was the first time Willy Sagnol’s team had lost in four games. Georgia still has two games to make a miracle. It must be added that coach Sagnol’s opponents before EURO are only Luxembourg, Greece and Montenegro. Czech Republic – ranked 34th in FIFA – will be a very tough opponent.
Like Georgia, the Czech Republic also lost their first match against the title contenders Portugal. At one point, the Czech Republic took the lead thanks to a goal in the 62nd minute, but then conceded two goals and sadly watched Portugal take all 3 points. It was also the first loss for the Czech Republic under Ivan Hasek. Before that, they won all 4 matches under the new 60-year-old coach.
The Czech Republic have a chance to improve their European record tonight. Defeat to the Selecao Europe continues the Czech Republic's disappointing streak as they have won just 1 of their last 7 EURO group stage matches.
To do so, Soucek and his teammates will need to break their bad luck when playing at the Volksparkstadion. The Czech Republic lost both matches against Italy (0-2, 2006) and Germany (0-3, 2016) in previous trips to Hamburg.
Compare forces
Captain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze are likely to lead the Georgia attack. In midfield, Levante midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili is Sagnol's number one choice.
For the Czech Republic, Patrik Schick is the top scorer with 19 goals for the national team. The Leverkusen striker is still looking for his fifth goal in the EURO finals, after failing to score against Portugal.
West Ham pair Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal are two irreplaceable players in coach Ivan Hasek's squad.
In general, the 2 coaches will almost certainly not change the starting lineup used in match 1.
