The material lift cable break incident occurred at the construction site of Dong Yen B Kindergarten (Dong Yen commune, Quoc Oai district, Hanoi) resulting in 3 deaths and 7 injuries.
On the afternoon of June 24, a representative of the Quoc Oai District Police (Hanoi) said that the District Police Investigation Agency had issued a decision to prosecute the case: "Violating regulations on labor safety causing serious consequences" occurring in Dong Yen commune.
According to the report of Dong Yen Commune People's Committee, the incident occurred at around 7:10 p.m. on June 18 in Viet Yen village. At that time, Mr. D.D.Th. (born in 1975, residing in Viet Yen Commune, Quoc Oai District) was a worker under the construction site shed of Dong Yen B Kindergarten when he noticed a power outage.
When Mr. Th. went to the back of the construction site (the area where the material lift is) to check, he discovered 10 injured people lying on the ground, below the lift area. The incident was determined to be caused by a broken material lift.
Immediately, Mr. Th. called some other people at the construction site including: VVNg. (born in 1991), D.TD (born in 1984) to take the victims to the emergency room at Military Hospital 105 (Son Tay).
By 9:00 p.m. the same day, due to severe injuries, 3 people had died, including: N.D.Th. (born in 1976; residing in Dong Quang commune, Quoc Oai district), LVS (born in 2001, residing in Chieng Luong commune, Mai Son district, Son La), Ng.VY (born in 1988, residing in Bac Me district, Ha Giang). The 7 injured victims are being treated at Military Hospital 105.
Quoc Oai District Police are continuing to coordinate with professional units of Hanoi City Police to investigate the case.
