Every year, when the Lunar New Year holiday ends, there is concern that many people "take advantage" of working hours to organize spring trips to festivals and temples to pray for luck, leading to work stagnation and neglect, negatively affecting the operations and image of agencies and organizations.

The Lunar New Year holiday is a rare occasion in the year for everyone to reunite with their families, have fun, and relax with relatives and friends after a year of hard work. As the old saying goes, “January is the month of fun” and after a long holiday, the post-Tet fun mentality makes many people struggle to get back to work.

In fact, the beginning of the year is the time when many festivals are held, attracting visitors from all over the world; temples and pagodas are the destinations for people to pray for peace, luck and fortune. This is a beautiful traditional cultural feature of the nation.

However, if the spring joy mentality continues for a long time, it will greatly affect the working time and efficiency; the quality and efficiency of the administrative system; negatively impact the completion of national development goals, and at the same time cause people to have an unfavorable view of the working style and manner of officials.

Therefore, on February 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed and issued Directive No. 06/CT-TTg on urging the implementation of key tasks after the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday. Accordingly, the Prime Minister requested relevant ministries, agencies, localities, collectives and individuals, according to their assigned functions, tasks and powers, to immediately focus on handling work after the Lunar New Year holiday, not to delay and affect production, business and socio-economic activities, especially for work that has been backlogged due to the Tet holiday...

The Directive emphasizes that cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in state administrative agencies, relevant agencies, and organizations must promptly resolve and handle work from the first working day, strictly implement administrative discipline, labor discipline, and not organize spring outings or New Year greetings that affect work time and efficiency. Absolutely do not attend festivals during working hours; do not use state budget, means, and public assets against regulations for festival activities, entertainment, etc.; leaders of ministries, agencies, and localities must not attend festivals unless assigned by competent authorities.

At the meeting on February 16 to assess the implementation of Directive No. 26-CT/TW of the Secretariat on organizing the Giap Thin New Year in 2024; directing a number of key tasks of Party committees at all levels in the coming time, the Central Party Secretariat also noted that immediately after the Tet holiday, agencies, units and localities should focus on implementing political tasks, quickly bring activities back to normal, ensure public service activities take place smoothly, well serve the needs of the people; do not let the situation of prolonged Tet holiday, neglect of work, affecting the production and business activities of people and enterprises happen.

In fact, the situation of officials and civil servants of central and local agencies and departments taking advantage of the first days of the new year to organize meetings, parties, and exchanges to celebrate the new year, and using public vehicles to participate in early year festivals has been greatly limited in recent years. Most agencies and organizations have strictly complied with discipline and labor discipline, but somewhere this reprehensible phenomenon of "working time corruption" still occurs with more sophisticated methods such as dividing into small groups and using personal vehicles to avoid attracting attention.

In the context of the country is deeply promoting the process of industrialization, modernization and international integration; our Party and State are giving strong directions to gradually perfect the socialist rule of law state, eliminating the mentality of "January is the month of entertainment", the habit of living and having fun for a long time after Tet, as well as improving public ethics and labor discipline are extremely necessary for the social cycle to soon return to normal.

Therefore, in addition to complying with the regulations of the Party and the State, and directives of leaders at all levels, agencies and units must also tighten management, leaders must demonstrate exemplary leadership roles, and especially each individual must uphold the spirit of responsibility, self-awareness, and change awareness so that there is no longer a situation of New Year's leisure, festivals, and lingering holiday effects.

The Lunar New Year holiday has passed, so it is considered a time to recharge energy for new goals and aspirations; the spring atmosphere is a source of inspiration, the beginning of the enthusiastic working spirit of each individual with the determination to successfully complete goals and tasks in the new year of Giap Thin.
