Kim Lien Commune Farmers' Association (Kim Thanh) is the first unit in Hai Duong selected to pilot the model of using organic waste decomposition machines.
According to a representative of the Farmers' Association of Kim Lien commune, at the end of November, the commune was chosen by the People's Committee of Kim Thanh district as a pilot model for using organic waste decomposition machines.
Currently, the commune has 3 machines, located at public places and houses in Cong Khe, Co Phuc Nam and Van Duong villages. Each village selects 20-30 households to participate in the model. The households classify waste, then someone will come to each household to receive organic waste, bring it back to classify it again before putting it into the machine.
Each composter has a capacity of 30 kg of waste/day, producing 7 kg of organic fertilizer; 24 hours to compost 1 batch of fertilizer. The fertilizer will be left for 7 days before use to reduce the temperature. Organic fertilizer is suitable for growing flowers, ornamental plants, and fertilizing vegetables...
According to the representative of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Kim Thanh district, the use of organic waste composters has many advantages, the most prominent of which is that the quality of compost after composting meets regulations; the surrounding environment has no bad smell. Because there is a person in charge, the input quality can be controlled and the amount of water and humus can be adjusted appropriately.
These machines are sponsored by Kim Thanh District People's Committee, Provincial Environmental Protection Fund and KPF Vietnam Company Limited.
Kim Lien Commune has over 4,000 households. In 2022, the commune was selected by the Kim Thanh District Farmers' Association to pilot the model of "Farmers collecting, classifying and treating organic waste at households" with nearly 500 households participating. Through the implementation process, people's awareness has been raised, waste has been significantly reduced and fertilizer has been created for agricultural production.
