Fefé was created by a master perfumer, and is advertised to make your dog smell like a million dollars.
Famous Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana has stirred up the world of pet perfumes when it launched Fefé - a "fragrance masterpiece" for dogs.
Priced at a whopping $108 for a 100ml bottle, Fefé was created by a master perfumer, and is advertised as “making your dog smell like a million dollars”.
The perfume is housed in a glossy green lacquered glass bottle, decorated with a brilliant red metal cap with a precious 24-carat gold-plated dog paw print.
In terms of scent, the product has a natural and warm scent of magnolia flowers, a pure and passionate scent of musk and a warm sweet scent of sandalwood.
Inspired by the unconditional love of D&G founder Domenico Dolce for his loyal dog Fefé, this unique fragrance is certified as a pet-safe cosmetic. Fefé is also vet approved, safety tested and loved by dogs.
“Spray Fefé onto your hand or a brush, and rub or brush your dog from the middle of the body towards the tail to pamper them with the scent,” the Dolce & Gabbana website writes.
Dolce & Gabbana's foray into dog grooming products has been criticized by veterinarians, despite the company claiming that its Fefé perfume is alcohol-free and completely safe for dogs.
The price of this perfume is one of the most controversial things about it, with some animal experts saying it is disappointing that such a product is being launched at a time when many people are struggling economically.
“Dog perfumes that smell like ylang-ylang and sandalwood are a waste of money and are likely to upset your dog,” says one veterinarian.
“Dogs have such a keen sense of smell that they can even detect each other’s natural scent when they are sprayed with perfume, so it’s no surprise that dogs can become distracted or upset by the smell of perfume,” explains Fabian Rivers, welfare ambassador for the RSPCA.
If you want to buy a perfume specifically for dogs, you can order Fefé perfume on the Dolce & Gabbana website.
