An AI-powered countdown timer promises to accurately predict lifespan down to the second.

The app, called Death Clock, is currently available on the Google and Apple stores. It will analyze the life choices that users regularly make, past habits, health status and family medical history to determine the "exact" time of their death. The app is not yet available in Vietnam.

Users are asked to enter a number of health markers such as cholesterol and blood sugar levels, as well as their exercise schedule, water intake, mental health and the current status of intimate relationships.

The app claims it uses data from 1,200 international longevity studies involving 53 million participants, including information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

After answering standard health questions, the Death Clock app asks about the ages of family members like grandparents and parents, how often you spend time with friends and family, and your mental health status.

The only way to get an accurate result is to answer every question as honestly as possible, then hold your breath as a card with the image of the grim reaper appears on the screen to declare your remaining time.

While the app is primarily known for its ability to estimate your life expectancy, it is quickly gaining popularity for its health advice capabilities. Users are not only curious about their death date, but are also using the app to gain insight into how to improve their health and make better lifestyle choices.

For example, personalized recommendations on areas like nutrition, physical activity, and stress management, provide users with tools to potentially extend their lifespan by adopting healthier habits.

App founder Brent Franson explains that his team trained the AI using longevity research from health and life insurance companies to look at the impact of sleep, supplements, and other factors on a person's lifespan.

Many netizens reacted humorously to the countdown that the app gave users. "This is exactly what I needed - the app tells me that eating late at night is slowly killing me!" - one person said on X. "The Death Clock app costs $40 (about 1 million VND) in membership fees every year. This AI is so smart, it automatically deducts the user's life expectancy based on that fee!" - another person sarcastically said.
