While local authorities and authorities are trying to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and floods, some people are creating more work for authorities with baseless rumors and unreasonable flood evacuation actions.
It has been a long time since Hai Duong has been so severely affected by storms, floods, and inundation. Before the storm, because they knew about the power of the super storm, many people told each other to go buy and stock up. But what they did not expect was that when the storm hit Hai Duong, it would cause such terrible destruction. The storm left us with no electricity, no phone network, no internet... And that is why, those households have replaced all gas stoves with induction stoves, electric stoves, microwaves, air fryers... but without alcohol stoves, without firewood... then even if they had stocked up on pork, chicken, rice... they would only be able to eat raw instant noodles.
After the storm passed, many roofs, shops, offices, schools were blown off, walls collapsed... Many old trees were uprooted, causing danger. Immediately after the storm, there was the fear of flooding, daily life in many areas of the province was disrupted. Many localities had to quickly evacuate people living outside the dike to safe places, racing to help people harvest agricultural products...
But at this time, there was a rumor of a "dam break". That was also the reason why many essential stalls such as rice, instant noodles, alcohol stoves, rechargeable lamps... were crowded. Many car owners drove their cars to high areas such as the grassy hills near Nam Cuong Hotel, Y-shaped bridge... to escape the flood. Or the rumor that Hai Duong Clean Water Trading Joint Stock Company sent a text message to customers informing them of a prolonged water outage... also made many people panic.
After the collapse of Phong Chau Bridge (Phu Tho), while the authorities and functional forces in the province were busy checking and making plans to divert traffic on weak bridges to ensure the safety of people and vehicles crossing the bridge, many people rushed to the bridges to livestream, take photos, and film to post on social networks. Gathering on the bridge not only endangered themselves but also obstructed traffic.
Up to today, although storm No. 3 has passed for nearly a week, the dangers it left behind are still latent. In the province, there are still many fallen trees that are at risk of being uprooted at any time. Many large garbage dumps of branches, roots, and fallen tree stumps have been cut down and temporarily piled along the road, limiting the visibility of traffic participants, and making travel more difficult because the roadway in some places is still narrowed...
The entire political system, especially the regular forces for natural disaster prevention, are making efforts every day. And in fact, everything is still under the control of the government and functional forces. The dike system is still safe. So we need to be calm and careful, but we must not be subjective when facing potential dangers. Let's join hands to clean up and overcome the consequences of storms and floods in many ways, such as many associations and organizations participating in general environmental cleaning in residential areas, protecting the dikes, cooking and providing meals for the forces on duty, for people who are having to evacuate or are in deeply flooded areas, without electricity, without water... If you cannot do such useful things, at least do not participate in meaningless things like spreading false rumors, confusing people, disrupting the market... so that the government and functional forces who are already busy have more work and affect the work of natural disaster prevention.
