The safest place to sit is in the back seat.

Sedan (4-5 seats)

Sedan is a car with 4-5 seats, low chassis of about 200mm, closed roof design attached to the body. According to experts, with the typical design of sedans, the most dangerous position is next to the driver, in the front row.

Because when an accident occurs on the front side, the driver often naturally reacts by turning the steering wheel to avoid it.

That is also the reason why the seat next to you is the one that takes the most impact. On the other hand, when a car collides head-on, the person sitting in the front row will easily hit his head and chest on the dashboard or windshield if the seat belt and airbag are not working effectively. The rear row is further away so the inertia force will be lower.

The safest position in a sedan is usually the back seat. For a 4-seat sedan, the safest position is the seat behind the driver. For a 5-seat sedan, the seat behind the driver and the two seats next to it in the middle are the safest.

Hatchback (4-5 seats)

Hatchback is a car line with the same number of seats as a sedan but the cabin design is similar to CUV, SUV, MPV lines and is much more compact in size than a sedan.

The seat next to the driver in a hatchback is always the most dangerous, whether in a frontal or rear-end collision. In the event of a collision, the person sitting in this position can hit their head on the windshield if they are not wearing a seat belt.

The rear seats are considered safer. The middle seat, in particular, is still considered the safest.

CUV, SUV, MPV (5-7 seats)

SUVs and MPVs have separate frames and cabins that are more resistant to impact than sedans. If hit from behind, the rear of an SUV or MPV can easily be deformed and pose a direct danger to the lives of rear passengers.

According to experts, the middle seat position in the second row is considered the safest in CUV, SUV, and MPV vehicles.

The risk of serious injury in a traffic accident is lowest, and it is capable of reducing injury by more than 70% compared to other seating positions if the vehicle is involved in a collision.
